Woodson "Woody" Lee Bowman

Woodson “Woody” Lee Bowman, 78 passed away peacefully at his home in rural Caney Wednesday. October 19th.

Woody was born November 4, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas to Stephen and Leatha Bowman. He spent a lot of his youth farming with his uncles in the Caney area. He attended Caney schools. He worked and retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. After retiring, he made his home in Caney.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Gerald “G.W.” Bowman and Shawn Bowman.

He is survived by his son, Shane Bowman of Caney, his daughter, Sholene Willis of Joplin, Missouri, four grandchildren, Morgan Bowman of Joplin, Missouri, Sid Willis of Granby, Missouri, Shaycee and husband Deven Mendoza of Caney, Andrew Bowman of Caney, two great grandchildren, Daxton and Freya Mendoza of Caney. The family will greet friends for the visitation at Potts Chapel in Caney on Wednesday, October 26th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Potts Chapel in Caney on Thursday, October 27th at 1:00 pm with burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas.
