William Harris, 86, known to his friends as "Bill" and to his family as "Pinky" returned to his Heavenly Father on January 21, 2016. "He nearly left us 45 years prior," said family, "but the good Lord knew we needed him to stick around a little while longer."
Bill's jovial spirit was shared with all he met, "N'er a stranger was known." He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed sharing his gifts and talents with many. There wasn't anything he couldn't do, but as he always said, "When you can't afford to hire someone to do it, you have to figure it out for yourself." Bill was a great husband and a wonderful father. Bill was always looking for the "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow. He had a steak appetite and a hamburger wallet, as he was so fond of saying. "He just never realized how rich he was..........," said family.
William Harris was born May 14, 1929, to Charles and Etta (Steeby) Harris in Caney Kansas. Bill was number ten of thirteen children. He lived the majority of his years in Wichita, but due to failing health, resided with his daughter in Colorado the last few months of his life.
Bill was preceded in death by his late wife, Virginia May (Trowbridge) and their young son Clarence William (Billy) Harris.
Surviving family members are two children, Roy Allen and Rita Ann LoGiudice, six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Three younger siblings- Wilma Hemphill, Pat Smith, and John Harris, along with his former wife Jolene Harris.
