Veda Kilmer, 95, of Caney, Kansas, formerly of Belle Plaine, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, after a long and happy life.
Veda Wilneta Doolittle was born March 30, 1920, in Zenda, Kansas, the fifth of seven children born to George Fredrick Doolittle and Anna Marie [[]Allender] Doolittle. She grew up in Zenda and Atlanta, Kansas areas.
In 1940 she married Paul Kilmer at Halstead, Kansas, and moved to Belle Plaine, Kansas. To this union was born their daughter, Karen.
Veda was a member of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in Belle Plaine. She was also a member of the Stitch & Chatter Club since 1940 in Belle Plaine.
Survivors blessed by her memory are her daughter Karen Howard and husband Harold of Caney, two grand daughters Gayle Ross and husband Jeff of Olathe, Kansas, and Traci Ward and husband James of Caney; four great grand children, and one great great grand child.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, one great grandchild, one great great grandchild, and her six brothers.
Celebration of Life Services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church, with Reverend Mik King officiating. The family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 1:00 prior to the service. Interment will follow at Belle Plaine Cemetery under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney, KS
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many thoughtful expressions of support, and especially for the prayers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Belle Plaine United Methodist Church in memory of Veda Kilmer.
