Vance Lane Farner, 60, passed away Sunday, October 24th, 2021 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Vance was born in Aiken, South Carolina on October 17th 1961 to Leonard and Phyllis (Adams) Farner. Vance attended Caney Valley High School in Caney, Kansas and graduated in 1979. After graduation Vance began working at Big Valley Lumber in Caney. He continued to work in the lumber business for the majority of his life, but he was most recently a pipeline inspector. Vance lived in various cities across the country, but Niotaze was always his true home.

Vance was happiest when helping people and was the most selfless man around. He loved his family and friends unconditionally and was always looking for a reason to spend time together. He had the biggest heart, always possessed a childlike spirit, and was as ornery as they come. His laugh was contagious, he was the life of any party, and he never met a stranger. He lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on his face. Vance’s favorite pastimes were raising longhorn cattle and cheering Brianna on in the pool; they each brought him so much joy.

He is survived by his very best friend Laurie McElroy, his daughter Marty and her husband Mitch Ruark, his favorite granddaughter Brianna Ruark, his sister Brenda and her husband Curtis Artherton, his niece Kristi and her husband Lyle French, his nephew Dustin and his wife Rumor Artherton, and his great nephews Sawyer and Carsen French and Kyzer Artherton.

Vance is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Phyllis Farner, and his brother Frank Farner.

Vance absolutely loved supporting his granddaughter in her competitive swimming and educational goals; therefore, in lieu of flowers an account has been set up at Community National Bank and Trust 501 E 4th Ave., Caney, KS 67333, (620)879-5500, account number 1430047232 with the funds going to Brianna’s swim team and future college education.
