Thelma Bernease Bolden, age 86, of rural Caney, KS, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at St. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Bernease was born September 15, 1930 to John and Audie Sisney Owen in Oakland, AR. She married JC Bolden on May 29, 1948 in Nuyaka, OK. From their marriage they were blessed with three children - Jackie, Johnnie and Marsha.

Bernease was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to cook, sew, quilt and garden. Bernease was her happiest spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a lifelong relationship with her Lord, her faith being very important to her, taking great joy in singing praises to God. She was an active member of Tyro Christian Church.

Survivors include her son Johnnie Bolden of the home, daughter Marsha Wilmoth of Tyro, KS, daughter-in-law Jan Bolden of Mustang, OK, sister Hazel Bowden of Alvin, TX, brother Oneil Owen of Bartlesville, OK, brother Quency Owen of Independence, KS, brother Gary Owen of Dewey, OK, and sister Fern Soles of Caney, KS. Also surviving are her grandchildren Julie Graumann of Weatherford, OK, Jennifer Trahan of League City, TX, Jeff Bolden of Mustang, OK, Michele Jacobs of Wamego, KS, Sharon Weigand of Dripping Springs, TX, Leslie Rife of Oswego, KS, great grandchildren J.D., Hunter and Audrey Graumann, Jadyn and Jillian Trahan, Brance and Shelby Bolden, Hope and Sara Jacobs, Kimber, Gavin and Rylan Littlepage, and step great grandchildren Rachel and Wil Rife, and many nieces and nephews.

Bernease was preceded in death by her parents, husband JC, son Jackie, and siblings Rachel Hawthorne, Martin Owen, and infant brother George Owen.

Family visitation will be Friday, December 2nd from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Potts Chapel Funeral Home in Caney, KS. Funeral services will be held at Tyro Christian Church on Saturday, December 3rd at 10:00 a.m. with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney.

The family has suggested donations to Another Chance Thrift Shop (ACTS) in Caney, designated in memory of Bernease Bolden. Donations can be left with the funeral home.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the love and support, and especially the prayers, during this difficult time. Thank you for caring.
