Sylvia Jenetta (Jay) Loggan was born in Eureka, KS to Leslie T. and Lutie M. (Morgan) Jay on August 21, 1931. She lived in Eureka until age 15 when she and her family moved to Havana, KS in 1946. She graduated from Havana High School in 1949. Jenetta married Billy D. Loggan on August 1, 1950 in Toronto, KS. She was a homemaker until 1978, when she began work for Tri County Special Education Co-op of Independence, KS. She worked in the Caney School District #436 for 17 years as a teacher's aide and retired in 1996.
She is Survived by three daughters: Rosetta Dunn of Ponca City, OK; Denise Salsman of Waynesville, MO; Deanna Moore of Bartlesville, OK, and one son, Samuel D. Loggan of Caney, KS. Her Husband Billy died on Febuary 28, 2003.
Also surviving one brother, Philip Jay of Edgerton, KS; one sister, Barbara Wilson of Coffeyville, KS. Nine grandchildren: Scott and Jamie Salsman, Elizabeth (Dunn) Steichen, Patrick Moore, Amanda, Heather, and Amber Loggan, and Chris and T.J. Davis. Tweleve great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Jenetta is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Earl, Donald, Charles and David Jay.
She was a member of Lone Cherry Church and was the church clerk for 32 years. She retired from this position in 2002 due to failing eyesight and was awarded a special plaque for her years of service. She had taught Sunday School classes for most of those 32 years, also.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 30th, 2026, from 5 to 7PM, at Potts Chapel in Caney, KS. A service to honor Jenetta's life will take place on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026, at 11AM, at Potts Chapel In Caney, KS. A graveside service at the Havana Cemetery will follow. Friends and Family are invited to gather and celebrate her spirit and share cherished memories.
Memorials can be made to the Lone Cherry Church in Havana, KS, in honor of Sylvia Jenetta (Jay) Loggan.
