Susan D. Dodson

Susan Dodson, 74, of Caney, Kansas, passed from a battle with cancer on March 27, 2025 at Plesant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.

Susan Dolores Dodson was born November 27, 1950 in Kansas. She is the oldest daughter of John R. and Ruth Dodson. She was raised on the family farm outside of Niotaze and graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1968.

Susan welcomed her daughter Misty Dawn and with that she inherited Misty's sisters and brothers that she always welcomed as her own.

Susan's career was one of service. From personal care of her employer turned friend, Mercy, to her later career as a CNA at several nursing home facilities. Susan also volunteered at the Kansas Humane Society.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Patricia McDaniel, and her niece Jennifer Holmes.

Left to carry on Susan's memory is her daughter Misty Dodson of Wichita, KS, her sister Rebecca Holmes and husband Terry, niece Marcia Witt and husband Micah and great-nephews of Vinita, OK , nephew John McDaniel and wife Jenny and great-nieces of Niotaze, KS, as well as numerous cousins and friends she counted as family. 

Susan's celebration of life will be held on April 1, 2025 at 2pm at the Caney United Methodist Church in Caney, KS. 

Burial will take place in a private ceremony at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, KS.
