Shirley Mae Perkins, formally of Caney, passed away on November 8th, 2019. Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Tyro Christian Church with Evangelist David Bycroft officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Mount Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma.
Shirley was born on August 18th, 1936 in Delaware, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Andrew “Andy” Jackson and Wilda Sitsler Stevens. She grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas, graduating from Coffeyville High School in 1955. On December 31, 1955, Shirley married Dewey Perkins. They later divorced.
Shirley enjoyed reading, cooking and baking. Her specialties were pies, cobblers and cinnamon rolls. She worked for many years in the food industry, including local restaurants: Windmill Café, Hickeys, Copan Restaurant, Dairy Queen, and the school cafeteria.
Those left to cherish her memory are five children: Allen (Chris) Perkins, Linda (Tom) Scott, Karen Perkins-Woods, son-in-law Ron Oyler, five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters: Sherri Perkins-Oyler and Bonnie Perkins and two grandchildren: Tommy Scott and Shanna Oyler.
We will also be celebrating the life of Bonnie Perkins.
