Richard Leon Gordon, aged 69, passed away on April 22, 2025, in Peru, Kansas. He was born on October 9, 1955, in Caney, Kansas, to his loving parents, Leon Gordon and Janet Dickerson (Harris). Richard was a cherished member of his community and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Richard's celebration of life will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025. The service will begin at 11:00am at God’s Lighthouse of Prayer, located on Main Street in PERU, KS (coordinates 37.08524° N, 96.09694° W).
Richard Leon Gordon, affectionately known as Rocky, led a life filled with love, passion, and dedication. He attended Caney Valley High School in Caney, Kansas, where he received his education. Throughout his life, Richard excelled in many areas and pursued his professional career at G&G Dozer, where he worked as a Welder/Fabricator.
In his free time, Richard found joy in various activities. He loved riding his motorcycle, shooting pool with both friends and family, and indulging in his favorite pastime of fishing. He was also an esteemed member of the American Legion Riders, showcasing his unwavering commitment to community and patriotism. Richard's vivacious spirit extended to all those around him, as he had a particular fondness for pestering and teasing his loved ones.
Richard Leon Gordon was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Harris, his father, Leon Gordon, his brother, Jimmy Dale Gordon, and his sister, Cindy Lynn Gordon. Although saddened by their loss, Richard's family finds solace in the fond memories they shared together.
Richard leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories in the hearts of his loved ones. He is survived by his adoring children: Donnie Gordon (Sumer Gordon) of Coweta, Oklahoma, Angie Olsen (Nate Olsen) of Coweta, Oklahoma, Jamie Gordon of Porter, Oklahoma, and Shannon Gordon (Amanda Orcutt) of Copan, Oklahoma. Richard's granddaughters, Bailie Badley (Garret Badley) of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Jaden Stidham (Jaxson Stidam) of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Avery Gilbert (Justin Gilbert) of Coweta, Oklahoma, will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Additionally, his grandsons, Caidon Gordon (Macey Gordon) of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Gavin Rhoades (Kendra Rhoades) of Porter, Oklahoma, and Elijah Olsen of Coweta, Oklahoma, will remember their beloved grandfather with deep affection. Great-grandchildren, Copelynn Badley, Halstynn Badley, and Kayson Badley of Skiatook, Oklahoma, along with Kolter Gilbert of Leonard, Oklahoma, Emma Rhoades and Brynlee Rhoades of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Brooks Stidham and Leighton Stidham of Coweta, Oklahoma, will forever cherish their memories of their great-grandfather.
Furthermore, Richard is survived by his sister, Lisa Heard, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his sister, Karen Brown (Jimmy Brown), of Caney, Kansas and his sister Donna Gordon, of Independence Kansas, and brother, Michael Gordon, of Caney, Kansas, they will forever cherish the memories they shared. Richard's niece, Brittany Rampfer of Greenwood, Arkansas, and nephews, Nathan Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jeffery Mullinax of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Dustin Mullinax of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, CJ Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, hold their uncle close to their hearts. Richard's cousin, Gary Gorby, of Havana, Kansas, as well as his cousin, Beverly Hoffine, of Caney, Kansas, also mourn his loss.
Richard Leon Gordon will be remembered for his loving nature, infectious laughter, and dedication to his family and community. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.
May Richard's soul find eternal peace with our Lord Jesus Christ and may his memory be a blessing to all.
