Nancy Smith, 68, Peru, KS, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015, at her home.
Nancy Lou Ann Sharp was born February 19, 1947 at Little Rock, Arkansas, the second of six children born to Robert Elijah Sharp and Katherine (Kay) Cooper-Sharp. She grew up and attended schools in Olathe, Kansas, before moving to Bartlesville, OK, in 1964, and graduated high school there in 1965.
In 1967 Nancy married George Martin. To this union was born their daughter Julie and son Jaron. The couple later divorced. In 1990, Nancy married Charles Smith, Peru. They enjoyed 25 years together at their home just east of Peru.
Nancy was a member of Harvest Time Assembly of God Church, Dewey, Oklahoma. She also attended church at God's Lighthouse of Prayer in Peru. She was an active member with the Peru Senior Citizens Center. Nancy wanted to be remembered for her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and encouraged others to make their own personal commitment as well.
Survivors blessed by her memory are her husband, Charles, of the home; daughter Julie Donahue and husband Ryan of Dallas, Texas, and son Jaron Martin and wife Miki of Tokyo, Japan; sisters Barbara West and husband Ross of Gravois Mills, MO, sister Priscilla Moorefield of Tulsa, OK; brothers Robert Sharp and wife Mary of Olathe, KS, Ron Sharp and wife Karen of Ochelata, OK, and James Sharp and wife Robin of Clinton, OK; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one granddaughter, Chloe Donahue.
Friends may sign the memorial register from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00am Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at God's Lighthouse of Prayer, Peru. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am with Pastor Frank Mundy officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Niotaze, Kansas, under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney. Online condolences can be shared at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
