Michael Murphy

Mike Murphy, age 60, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his rural Havana, Kansas home, after a difficult struggle with diabetes.

Michael William Murphy was born September 7, 1955, at Nampa, Idaho, the first of two children of Lloyd Murphy and Betty Jo Murphy. He was raised in Nampa, graduating high school there.

For many years Mike was a truck driver for Transwood Incorporated, Independence, Kansas, and ultimately for Sedan Floral, Sedan, Kansas. Mike enjoyed watching his two sons race their stock cars at local tracks.

Survivors blessed by his memories are his wife, Janice, of the home, son Russell of Salina, Oklahoma, and Son Benjamin of Cherryvale, Kansas; two daughters - Sarah Murphy of the Havana home, and Brenda Murphy-Burke of Portales, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister Terri (Brian) Murphy, of Idaho; niece Tiffani and nephew Nicholas. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd.

Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2016 @ 10:00am at Elcado Cemetery, 2600 Bronco Road, south of Peru, Kansas, with Pastor Nathan Boldt, Tyro Christian Church officiating.
