Luther C. Herard, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024 at Ascension St. John's in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on May 4, 1937, in Elgin, Kansas, Luther devoted his life to his family and his work, creating a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
A proud graduate of high school in Sedan, Kansas, Luther went on to own and operate his own scrap metal shop, Caney Iron and Metal. His love for working with his hands was evident to all who knew him; it is said that you could hand him any tool, and he could fashion something extraordinary from it. Luther was a quiet and humble man, often seeking solace in his shop to clear his mind in times of distress. He poured his heart into everything he did, embodying the essence of hard work and dedication.
Luther's heart was forever intertwined with that of his beloved wife, Judy, whom he married in 1958. They shared a deep bond built on love, respect, and mutual admiration. Together, they raised a family that brought joy and fulfillment to his life. Luther is survived by his wife Judy Herard; son Jeff Herard and his wife Rhonda; daughter Felicia Wallace and her husband Paul; brother Paul Herard and his wife Norma; and five cherished grandchildren: Ashlee Herard, Tanner Pendergraft, Brooke Adcock, Caitlin Scoles, and Mack Wallace. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Kimberley Lewis and Michael Lewis, who were a source of immense joy.
Luther was predeceased by his parents, Luther and Mildred Herard, and his son Luther Ray Herard, both of whom he held dear in his heart.
Luther C. Herard will be remembered not only for his skillful craftsmanship but also for his enduring love for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
