Kenneth Fobian

Longtime Caney resident Kenneth Carl "Fob" Fobian, 82, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
Kenneth Fobian was born on September 16, 1935, to Alfred and Johanne Marie (Jensen) Fobian in New Hartford, Iowa. He graduated high school in 1953 from Cedar Falls, Iowa. Kenny served in the United States Army for 2 years. While in the Army he wrestled and played football. In 1969, Kenny moved from Iowa after selling the Bloomfield Foundry and made his home in Caney, Kansas. Kenny along with his brother, Lee, owned and operated two manufacturing facilities in Caney, F & M Corporation, which built over 13,000 ammunition boxes for the United States Arsenal, and The Pallet Co Inc, which supplied pallets and boxes to many regional facilities.
Kenny married Renee Arlene (Cummings) Bishop on May 20, 1976 residing in Caney, in later years moving to Havana. The couple were married for 36 years, divorcing in 2012, remaining close friends.
Kenny great passion in life was his love for golf. He enjoyed contributing to the Caney Golf Club course helping with the operating of the heavy machinery to help construct and shape the course. Kenny loved to spend his spare time on the links and in the club house telling stories and reminiscing with his fellow golfers. Kenny was a patient and kind man who always made time to help his family and friends and enjoyed traveling to Iowa to visit with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory, ex-wife, Renee Fobian of Caney, daughter, Sherri Stotts, of Caney, brother, Lee Fobian, of Elk City, Lillian Burnside, of Iowa, grandchildren, Brandon Hawthorne of Texas and Cashus Stotts of Caney, and one great grandchild, Tucker Stotts, and numerous nephews and nieces. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials be made to the Caney Golf Club.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Johanne Marie Fobian, daughter, Darla Hawthorne, brother, Darryl Fobian, and sisters, Penny Weston, and Irene "Mickey" Kotaska.
A celebration of Kenny's life will be held at the Caney Golf Club on Friday, October 13th, at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Potts Chapel.
