Kenneth Wayne Bragg, 75, of Dewey, Oklahoma, passed away March 10, 2024 surrounded by a loving family.
He was born on January 11, 1949, in Gilmer, Texas to Douglas Clifton Bragg and Frances Louise Williams. Wayne was known for his hard work, ornery humor, and patriotic spirit. He was always there when someone needed help, a good ear to listen, or just being plain silly with the grandkids.
Wayne attended Brownsboro High School and later served in the United States Army as an E4 through the Vietnam War. Throughout his military career, he would go on to earn the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Sharpshooter Rifle M-14, National Defense Service Medal and the Purple Heart before medically retiring when he was injured in Vietnam, losing his left eye. He was a phenomenal heavy equipment operator for most of his life despite the visual difficulties he faced. He was a dedicated member of the DAV organization for many years, where he helped fellow veterans and their families in need. He may have retired from the Army but the Army never left him.
He was the devoted husband to Stephanie Bragg. Together they had a son and daughter. A relationship with Donna Ferguson, now deceased, also produced a daughter. He was previously married to Bobbie Gideon Bragg, though this relationship wasn't permanent, they did have two sons together and remained friends afterwards.
Those left to carry on Wayne's memories are his wife Stephanie Bragg; Children, Scott Bragg, Jeffery Bragg (spouse Karen Bragg), Lisa Wooddell, Dennis Bragg (spouse Mary Bragg), and Karen Pendleton. Along with being the most spirited, loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terry Bragg, and great-grandson Daxton Whetstone.
Wayne will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, and passion for serving others. The family can gain comfort in knowing Wayne was Christian and went home to the Father. He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment that will be cherished by all who knew him, and will remain a hero to us all.
