James "Jim" Rinck

James "Jim" Mack Rinck- age 94 of rural Havana, Kansas, passed Jan 17, 2021 at Coffeyville Medical Center.

Cremation has taken place and Memorial Graveside services will be at Fairview Cemetery – southeast of Niotaze, KS; for both Jim and Dorothy at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2021 under the direction of the Potts Chapel. But if weather is looking bad - we may postpone to Feb 6. If we do have to postpone updates will be on the Potts Chapel Website and Facebook. Jim was born August 1, 1926 at rural Parsons, Kansas; to Lester and Grace (Smith) Rinck. After Joe was born, they moved to the Niotaze area in 1935, & 2 more brothers were born, Clyde and Ray. Jim graduated from Peru High School in 1943.  Jim and Dorothy had been neighbors & they were married on Feb 20,1949 at the Niotaze Christian Church & they had 2 children.

Jim was a dedicated farmer near Niotaze, Kansas until he retired in 1988. Then his son Steve took over the farming business with Jim still helping out during the harvest season. In his early years he also worked in the oil fields in the winter time as a driller on cable tool rigs. Later years, he and a neighbor cut logs for 3 winters. Jim & Dorothy's breaks from farming were: bowling team, fishing, drive-in theater, and later- wood working crafts.

Upon retiring, Jim and Dorothy did a lot of traveling to KC ball games, rodeos in Las Vegas, Rose bowl, & Alaska. They have visited all the US states & Canadian Provinces, except for Hawaii & Newfoundland. They also did a lot of fishing in local reservoirs in Kansas and Oklahoma, and many times to Bull Shoals in Missouri.  Also fished Canada & Old Mexico. Fred & Audra would sometimes accompany them on their fishing trips or vis versa.  Jim's other passions were: hunting, woodworking, and loved to go bowling & play poker with his friends. He has served on Chautauqua Co. Extension Council, 4-H leader when his children were in grade school. For many years he served on several boards: Rural water district #5, Twin Caney watershed and Fairview Cemetery of Niotaze. He received the Soil conservation award in 1966 & the Pioneer award of Chautauqua Co. in 2011.

He is survived by Audrey Agin & husband Fred of Emporia, Kansas; his son, Steve of rural Niotaze. He also has 4 grandsons: James, Clint, Clay & Cory and 9 great grandchildren.  One brother, Clyde of Camio, Ca. He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Joe & Ray.
