Hedy Arlene Rozema van Manen passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on October 22, 1941, in Sitoebondo, Indonesia, to Roelof and Eugenie Henriette Drege Rozema.
Hedy married the love of her life, Cornelis (Case) van Manen, on June 12, 1961, in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Together, they began a new chapter in the United States, immigrating in the late fall in 1961. Their love story was evident to all who knew them, especially when they danced together - graceful and effortless, as if they floated across the floor.
Hedy was a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother (Oma), and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Case van Manen, and her sister, Ruby Rozema of Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. She leaves behind her cherised children: John (Ginny), Debra (the late Kenny Clark), Troy (Kaye), and Bianca Dean. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her brother, Harry Rozema, and her son-in-law Kenny Clark.
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Joni Cosar; Keesie (Angie) Clark; John (Ashley) Clark; and Lance van Manen, and her great-grandchildren: Jaci, D'Chota, Charlee, Braelynn, and Daisy.
Hedy made a lasting impression in Caney, where she worked at various local food establishments. She loved being part of the community, especially during the time when Caney had a tennis league - she was a joyful competitor and always up for a match. She also gave generously of her time as a member of the Lades Auxiliary, proudly supporting the volunteer fire department and helping whenever there is a need.
Hedy also had a green thumb and could grow just about anything. Her home was filled with plants and flowers, and her backyard was a haven for the birds she loved to feed. She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit, love of life, and the grace and beauty with which she moved through the world.
The family invites you to plant something in her memory or feed the birds in your backyard - just as Hedy would have done.
