Fern Keith

Fern M. Keith, age 88, of Caney, formerly of Wichita, passed away at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney, Kansas on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

Fern Marie Shafter was born January 10, 1926, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Dennis Robert and Marva Annette Hayes Shafter.

The majority of her employment years were as a legal secretary for law firms.

She is survived by one son, Jim Vanatta and wife Janis, and two grandchildren, Michael and Katrina Vanatta, all of Newton, Kansas and two sisters, Marva White of Caney and Nancy McGee of Garnett, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Marva Shafter her husband, Bill Keith one son, Dennis Vanatta and one sister, Helen Hamlin.
