Evelyn F. Carinder, aged 93, of rural Caney, Kansas, peacefully passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Guest Home Estates in Caney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 12th, at Potts Chapel in Caney, with visitation scheduled for Thursday, July 11th, from 6-8 pm.
Born on March 19, 1931, in rural Caney, Evelyn was the daughter of Frank Freidline and Nina (Hall) Freidline. She graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1949, where she met her beloved husband William 'Bill' Carinder. They married on September 18, 1949, in Caney, and enjoyed 68 years together until Bill's passing in 2018. Evelyn held various part-time positions locally, including Loves, McDaniel's, the telephone company, and the greenhouse. She had a deep passion for sewing and crafting, which she continued until recently. Evelyn also served as an assistant Girl Scout leader. Together, Bill and Evelyn operated a farm west of Caney, raising cattle, pigs, and chickens. They were active members of the Garden Club of Caney. Traveling was another joy they shared, exploring the United States with friends from their camping club. Above all, Evelyn cherished her family and grandchildren. She eagerly cared for her grandchildren, offering support whenever needed, and hosted Sunday lunches for the family for many years.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nina Freidline, her son Everett Carinder,and her daughter Ginger Burris.Left to honor Evelyn's memory are her daughters, Wilima (Tom) Rogers of rural Caney, Jane (Dennis) Hartley of rural Caney, and Susie (Mike) Riles of Acworth, GA; daughter-in-law Vicky Carinder of rural Coffeyville; nine grandchildren: Meg Pinkerton, Tony Rogers, Lance and Lonnie Burris, Jessica Larkin, Frank and John Carinder, and Eric and Jacque Riles; and six great-grandchildren: Adam and Grace Pinkerton, Elizabeth Bryant, Anthony Rogers, and Austin and Aiden Carinder.
