Ethel was born on July 2, 1936, in Leedy, Oklahoma, to Levi and LulaMae Baker. In 1951, her family moved to Vinita, Oklahoma, where she later graduated from Vinita High School with the Class of 1954.

She shared a close bond with her family throughout her life, including her brothers James (Adair) Baker, Leroy (Vinita) Baker, and sister Barbara Henderson.

In 1954, Ethel married Jackie Dixon, and together they welcomed three children: Terry Dixon, Toni Timmerman, and Barry Dixon.

In October 1970, Ethel married the love of her life, Jack Scovel. She lovingly embraced Jack’s children, Craig Scovel and Christy Stroman, as her own. In 1972, Ethel and Jack made their home in the Tyro area, where they built a life centered on family and love.

Ethel devoted 25 years of service to Phillips Petroleum, where she worked as a supervisor in the Credit Card Division. She earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues through her leadership, dedication, and strong work ethic. Even after retirement, she remained a source of strength, wisdom, and encouragement to those she loved.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara, beloved husband, Jack, in November 2010, and by her son, Barry Dixon. She is survived by a cherished family, including her brothers, her children Terry, Toni, Craig, and Christy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one treasured great-great-grandchild, Tavyn.
