Longtime rural Caney resident Elizabeth Eva Mayfield, 77, passed away at Jane Phillips Medical Center on Sunday, December 9, 2018. A celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held at Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas on Friday, December 14th at 10:00am.
Elizabeth Eva Mayfield was born in Squires, Missouri on July 30, 1941 to Glen Morris and Eva Mae (Hitchcock) Turner. Elizabeth attended a rural school in Missouri. On February 14, 1963, Elizabeth married Dick W. Mayfield in Caney, Kansas. Work was something she never shied away from, while taking care of the house and children, you could always find Elizabeth out helping on the farm, tending to the cows, chickens, and even mending fence. Elizabeth owned and operated Mayfield's Country Ceramics for many years. She had upwards of 4000 different molds. In her free time, Elizabeth loved to crochet, cook, work with her ceramics, and take care of her family.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Glen Morris and Eva Mae (Hitchcock) Turner, husband, Dick W. Mayfield, sons, Glen Ray Mayfield, Perry Lee Mayfield, sister, Brenda Bartlett, and two young brothers.
She is survived by son, Ray Mayfield of Caney, KS, daughter, Eva and husband Tom Fyffe of Niotaze, KS, brothers, Paul and wife Virginia Turner, Dale and wife Sharon Turner, Donis Turner, sisters, Darlene and husband Buck Rogers, Julia and husband Tony Turner, Elois and husband David Hancock, grandchildren, Ray and Amy Carinder, LaTosha Carinder, great grandchildren, Charles Barringer and Kiser Carinder and numerous nieces and nephews.
