Donald Gene Wade, age 86, of Havana, KS passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at St. Johns Medical Center in Tulsa, Okla. Don was born August 30, 1936 to Elmer & Myrtle Wade of Havana, KS. He was the youngest of 10 children.
Don enlisted in the Air Force (before graduating from Havana High School) where he served for 4 years. Following his years of service, he moved back home where he met the love of his life – Carol June Henson. They were married in Caney, KS on May 30,1959.
Don spent the bulk of his years working as an electrician: primarily for Phillips in Bartlesville, OK but he also worked for himself during several of those years.
Don loved spending time w his family. He especially enjoyed spending time w his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Even though he relentlessly teased them, they all knew their Papa or Papaw loved them dearly. He also loved the outdoors – especially hunting & fishing w family and friends.
Don will always be remembered for his kind heart, outgoing personality, and his unwavering commitment to his family & friends. He was a man who never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those who had need. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
A celebration of life will be held at Potts Chapel on Thursday July 13 @ 1pm. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Wednesday July 12 at the funeral home.
Don is survived by three sons and their families: Ron and his wife Amy of Havana, KS; Tracy and Emily of Independence, KS; Darren and his wife Kari of Olathe, KS; as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elmer & Myrtle Wade; 7 brothers: Ralph, Smokey, Bus, Carl, Bill, Lloyd, and Russell; 2 sisters: Doris & Betty; one son: Lonnie; and his lovely wife, Carol.
