Dennis Ray Lumley, passed away on October 25, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories and a lasting impact. Born on July 17, 1965 in Caney, Kansas to Ivan Lumley and Naomi Lumley, Dennis brought joy and kindness to all who knew him.
Dennis's educational journey was marked by determination and excellence. He graduated from Sedan High School in 1983, where his academic prowess earned him honors. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, he graduated from Coffeyville Community College in 1985 and went on to complete his studies at Pittsburg State University in 1987, once again achieving honors. Throughout his academic endeavors, Dennis exhibited a thirst for knowledge that propelled him towards success.
With an unwavering passion for technology and problem-solving, Dennis embarked on a fruitful career as a software engineer. He began his professional journey at Memorex Telex, utilizing his skills to make meaningful contributions to the field. Later on, Dennis's expertise led him to Thrifty Car Rentals, where he continued to showcase his talent as a skilled software engineer. His dedication and proficiency in his work garnered the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his career.
While Dennis was highly accomplished in his professional life, it was his personal qualities that truly set him apart. His intelligence was matched by an innate warmth that endeared him to all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Known for his kindness and genuine care towards others, he brightened many lives with a smile that could light up any room.
In addition to his notable career and compassionate nature, Dennis held numerous hobbies and interests close to his heart. Above all else, he cherished spending time with family and friends. Vacations with his sister Nancy and brother Daniel were treasured moments where they created lasting memories together. An aficionado of music from the 70s and 80s, Dennis passionately collected CDs and albums, embracing the nostalgia they evoked. It was also no secret that Dennis held a special place in his heart for the charming world of Peanuts characters, particularly anything featuring Snoopy.
Dennis will forever be missed by his surviving family members, brother Larry Lumley, sister Nancy Jones, brother Richard Lumley, and brother Daniel Lumley. Their love and bond with Dennis will endure through cherished memories and shared experiences.
To honor and celebrate the life of Dennis Ray Lumley, a burial service will take place on November 3, 2023. The service will commence at 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Niotaze, Kansas. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their final respects to this remarkable individual who touched so many lives.
Dennis's departure has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts. However, we find solace in knowing that the impact he made during his time with us will continue to reverberate within our souls. As we bid farewell to a cherished son, brother, friend, and colleague, may we carry forward the lessons he imparted and strive to emulate his kindness and generosity towards others.
