David Householter

January 22, 1948 — May 20, 2021

David Lee Householter was called home on May 20, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Louise Householter and a brother Leo at birth. David was born on January 22, 1948 in Concordia, Kansas to Leo E. and Harriet Louise (Holt) Householter. David went to Concordia Public Schools. He graduated in 1966 and attended Junior College in Concordia before entering the Air Force in August 1968. After basic and weather observer school he was stationed in Wichita at McConnell A.F.B. where he met the love of his life, Tami, and gave his life to the Lord at the Gideon Baptist Church on July 5, 1970. After his tour in Vietnam (1971-72) he left the Air Force. On August 12, 1972 he and Tami were married at the First Bible Baptist Church in Wichita. After marriage they moved to Lawrence, Kansas where Dave went to KU to become a pharmacist. However, they were heavily involved in a Baptist Church and the Lord used that to draw Dave to full-time ministry. In 1974 they moved to Springfield, Missouri to go to Baptist Bible College. Dave continued his education at Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee and received his Master of Divinity. In 1985 he was hired as an Associate Pastor in Warsaw, Indiana at First Baptist Church where he served until 1988. Then in 1988 he was called to be the pastor in Valentine, Nebraska at the Berean Bible Church. He served there faithfully for 25 years until his retirement in 2013. Dave and Tami then moved to the family farm near Caney, Kansas to help take care of Tami’s aging father who died in May 2013. Dave and Tami spent time tearing down her grandparents 150 year old home and improving the farm.

Dave enjoyed preaching, teaching the Bible, reading, visiting with friends, farm work, woodworking, metal detecting, gardening, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and teasing everyone. He also enjoyed teaching the Bible to their life group at church, who greatly helped and supported Dave during his last years on this earth.

He is survived by his wife Tami of 49 years and their two daughters Christy (Don) Fellows of Yutan, Nebraska and Joy (Caleb) Armstrong of Lincoln, Nebraska and six grandchildren: Ava, Sophie, Lilly Fellows and Roman, Titus, Natalya Armstrong. Sister-in-law Linda Roberts of Coffeyville, Kansas, brother-in-law Lane (Linda) Roberts of Caney, Kansas, niece Chantel (Brad) Wolf of Tulsa, Oklahoma, nephews Caleb (Elli) Roberts of Olathe, Kansas, Joshua Roberts of New York, New York. Aunt Gloria Lippold, cousins Paul and Tom Lippold of Chicago, Illinois. Three grandnieces, Ayla, Carys and Gracelyn and a host of cousins and friends.

Memorials can be made to the Berean Church Building Fund, 712 E. 7th Street, Valentine, Nebraska 69201.
