Connie Susan Morris, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted and baptized Lutheran, passed away on January 28, 2025, on what was also her 73rd birthday at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Born on January 28, 1952, in Atchison, Kansas, Connie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Connie was committed to her careers. She spent many wonderful years working for Goodnews and eventually retiring after 25 years. She would eventually retire from her custodial role at the local Caney school district where she worked for 12 years. Connie was known for her hardworking nature but also her warm spirit.
An individual of many talents and interests, Connie enjoyed sewing, specifically with her many Singer sewing machines. She enjoyed crafting potholders, quilts, and other gifts for her family. Her passion for sewing was accompanied by a fascination for collecting old oil lamps, windchimes, and various types of cast iron cookware. A huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, she cherished her moments spent watching football, a pastime that she truly enjoyed. She also found pleasure in her favorite soap operas and tried to never miss an episode.
Connie's most cherished moments were spent with her closest family. She instilled a love for fishing in her children and grandchildren. Connie spent many long nights at the Caney Valley Speedway cheering with her family from the stands. Connie enjoyed her family drives, particularly the ones she took with her loving husband in her old convertible back in the day with her signature horse head car ornament.
Connie will be fondly remembered for her loving and kind personality. Her laughter was contagious, and she had a remarkable talent for making those around her feel special. Known for her savvy ability to save money, she embodied a spirit of practicality combined with a deep affection for her loved ones.
The proudest accomplishment of Connie's life was her 54 years of marriage to her husband, John Morris Sr. Together, they built a strong and loving family that includes their daughter Angela Newman and husband Jeff, and their son John Morris Jr. and wife Krystal, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories with each of them.
She is joined in eternal rest by her parents, Jess and Margarett Mathena, along with two stepbrothers, two stepsisters, and her beloved granddaughter Allison Detar. Leaving behind a legacy of love and strength, her spirit will continue to shine through the lives of her family and friends.
Connie Suzanne Morris will be sorely missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
