Chad Wylie Johnson, a dedicated firefighter and beloved member of the community, passed away on January 16, 2024, in Caney, Kansas. Born on March 28, 1979, Chad lived a life filled with compassion, adventure, and a deep love for those around him. He was known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his passion for making a difference in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Chad's journey began in Copan, Oklahoma, where he attended high school and laid the foundation for his future endeavors. After graduating, he pursued a career with the city of Caney. His dedication to public service led him to join the Caney Fire Department, where he fearlessly battled flames and risked his own safety to protect the lives and properties of those in need.

Beyond his role as a firefighter, Chad found immense joy in umpiring in Dewey and Bartlesville. His boundless love for kids was evident through these activities, as he nurtured young talents and contributed to their growth on and off the field. Chad's warm and nurturing nature made him not only an exceptional umpire but also a mentor to many children who looked up to him as a guiding light.

Chad had interests that brought excitement to his life outside of work. For many years, he immersed himself in the world of racing at Will Rogers Raceway and Caney Valley Speedway. The thrill of the race and camaraderie among fellow racing enthusiasts provided him with endless joy. Chad's passion for racing extended beyond the track; it became an avenue for him to build meaningful friendships within the tight-knit racing community.

In addition to his active involvement in the community and pursuing his passions, Chad cherished time spent with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be cherished by his loved ones. Chad is survived by his son, Joshua, who was the center of his world. He was a dedicated father, striving to provide his son with the best possible future. Chad's genuine kindness and unwavering support also touched the lives of his father, Jerry, his sister Robyn, his brothers Jason and Bradley, and his sister Julie. Furthermore, he leaves behind his grandfather Joe, several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Chad's warm smile could brighten even the darkest room, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His selflessness, bravery, and compassionate spirit will always be remembered by friends and colleagues alike.
