Carolyn Sue Hawthorne, 79, passed away at the Guest Home Estates in Caney, on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
Carolyn was born on November 20, 1942, to Edgar and Opal (Smith, Roberds) Coots in Parsons, Kansas. Carolyn graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1961. After graduation she married Namon Hawthorne in 1963, The two later divorced in 1977. With this union Carolyn and Namon welcomed six boys, Namon III (Twila), Gary (Tess) Kenny (Amanda) John David, Robert (Robin) and Roger (Crystal). Carolyn was a member of Cross Point Baptist Church for many years, helping in the nursery for numerous years, which she loved. Carolyn was a homemaker and loved her children and all the other children who were at her house all the time. Carolyn was a supporter of Caney Valley Sports, attending numerous basketball, football, baseball, and wrestling tournaments through the years. Carolyn was a friend to all.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her brothers, Edgar Coots, Gary Coots and Jimmy (Jumbo) Roberds, and her parents.
Her memory will live on with her children, her sister, Stella Rosewicz, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends for a visitation on Thursday, November 10th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Potts Chapel. Graveside services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney on Friday, November 11th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Guest Home Estates Gazebo Fund in Carolyn’s name.
