Ilene Ibach, age 94, of Caney, Kansas went to be with her Lord on September 1, 2014, while at The Journey Home hospice house in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Alice Ilene Barnett was born January 18, 1920, in Hewins, Kansas, the first of two children to Barna F. and Verda Belle Bradley Barnett. She attended school at Hewins for ten years. She then attended high school at Cedar Vale, Kansas, and graduated with the class of 1938. That same year her family moved to Bowring, Oklahoma. She later moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma and went to work for S. H. Kress and later for Phillips Petroleum Company.
It was in Bartlesville that she met James D. Dude Ibach. They married on July 3, 1944 in Nowata, Oklahoma. To this union was born their two daughters Vicki Rea and Sheryl Lea. The family moved to Caney, Kansas in 1948. Her husband, Dude, owned and operated the Phillips 66 Station at the corner of 5th and High streets, what was then US 75. Dude passed away March 23, 1984.
In 1956 she began 17 years of employment with Dr. Doyle O. Burch, Optometrist, in Caney. Then in 1973, she returned to work at Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, retiring from there in 1985.
Ilene had a goal of living in a clean world, but was satisfied with concentrating on her own yard work and keeping her realm tidy. She enjoyed feeding the birds and reading at least until her eyesight gave out. She enjoyed attending church, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caney.
Blessed by her memory are her surviving loved ones: two daughters, Vicki Ferrell and husband Doc of Caney and Sheryl Sutherland and husband James of Southport, North Carolina her five grandchildren, Dana, Kara, Matt, Zac, and Jordan three great grandchildren, Millie, Clare, and Porter one brother, Harold Barnett and wife Nadine of Caney and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
